Look no further than Bethania Adventure Watersports. Bethania Adventure provides canoeing, kayaking, sailing, windsurfing on Lake Vyrnwy, one of the most beautiful lakes in Wales and many other dry land activities that are suitable for the complete beginner and the more experienced individual. Bethania Adventure’s helpful and friendly staff are here to help you get the most out of your visit by providing a safe and fun environment.

Buoyancy aids are provided for all customers. Guest boats are allowed on the lake for a small launch fee. Boats will be checked for seaworthiness and they must be launched from the boathouse slipway strictly while the safety boat is on the water.

CANOEING AND KAYAKING
Enjoy the lake from one of our two or three seat Canadian canoes and with a quick briefing are easy enough to paddle. If you feel a bit more adventurous try one of our single seat kayaks where you can go out individually or with a group of friends. Tuition is also available as one-on-one or in a group of up to eight people per instructor.

SAILING
At Bethania Adventure we have a fleet of sailing dinghies ranging from a topper (single handed sailing) to family sailing in the wayfarer (up to five per boat). Sailing boats can be self sailed for the competent sailor or as a helmed boat for those that just want a sailing experience or would like to brush up on their skills.

WINDSURFING
The centre has a wide range of windsurf rigs and boards available for hire. These can be for the absolute beginner who wants a taster of this exhilarating sport or for the experienced sailor who wants to sail on this beautiful lake.

WETSUIT HIRE
If you decide to participate in a watersport that you may get very wet in (windsurfing, topper sailing, kayaking) you may wish to hire a wetsuit from the centre for a small fee.

OPENING HOURS  
The boathouse is staffed from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm on weekends and during holiday periods from Easter to October. The centre is available all year round for booked groups.

FISHING AT LAKE VYRNWY HOTEL

Fly fishing on the Vyrnwy Reservoir

Lake Vyrnwy Hotel & Spa has the exclusive fishing rights over the 1,100 acres of the Vyrnwy reservoir. Fly fishing at Lake Vyrnwy started in 1818 after the lake was flooded and stocked with 40,000 Loch Leven brown trout. This reservoir is the world’s second oldest manmade trout fishery. The hotel holds a collection of stuffed trout, together with all the fishing registers since the lake opened, making this one of the most important collections of piscatorial ephemera in private hands. Today fishing is for wild brown and stocked brown and rainbow trout, ensuring good sport throughout the season. There are 10 boats on the lake, quietly powered by electric engines.

Situated on the roadside of the A458 (between Welshpool and Mallwyd) with easy access, convenient parking to a reception area of office for sales, tackle and bait, a kitchen for food and drinks, toilet and shower, right by the lakes. All facilities disability friendly. Guide dogs allowed. Other dogs can be kennelled by booking arrangements.

Forgotten your rod or never fished before and fancy a taster or some coaching? No problem, we hire out all the gear. There is a choice of two landscaped pools, stocked with Carp, Tench, Roach, Rudd, Bream and Chubb. Enjoy a relaxing day’s fishing or join in on some of our programmed events.

Extend your fishing experience by camping on our site either with nature in our semi-natural woodland with facilities for a camp fire, BBQ’s and picnic areas or on a flat enclosed area by the lakes with parking proximity.

Or if you don’t fancy fishing why not have a go at some remote control boating or even kayaking on our new lakes which are open to proficient users. Equipment hire and or tuition for novices can be arranged with advanced booking.

BRYNGWYN HOUSE AND GARDEN TOURS

We welcome groups by prior arrangement for House and Garden Tours. Bryngwyn Hall and Gardens listed grade II*, covers over nine acres, surrounded by sixty acres of oak studded parkland. The garden is undergoing an extensive restoration programme the lakes. New yew hedges for structure, large herbaceous borders and extensive new planting give an all year appeal with a variety of scents, colours and academic interest.

Bryngwyn Courses and Workshops

Art Course; Week Commencing the 22nd April 2013

The course will combine four days of painting and drawing in the beautiful landscape of the Welsh Marches with evenings spent enjoying

the comfort and gourmet food of Bryngwyn Hall. We will paint in the park at Bryngwyn also in the hills and valleys surrounding the estate.

The course will be led by Sam Shaw who trained at the City & Guilds of London Art School graduating in 1990 with a First Class Honours Degree. The same year she won the prestigious Richard Ford Award for painting at the Royal Academy. Private collectors include HRH

Game On and Bryngwyn Estate can offer groups both private and corporate a top quality simulate game shooting day with clays and all associated hospitality. In conjunction with Game On Bryngwyn Hall offers Simulated Game Days on the beautiful Bryngwyn Estate for experienced and inexperienced shots. Using clays to replicate pheasant, partridge and other game birds guests are given a varied and challenging day for a fraction of the cost of an equivalent game day. Simulated Game Days are more informal than driven game days and

are an ideal way to maintain or hone shooting skills or to experience a driven day before the real thing. They are a perfect day out with friends

Dyfnant Forest is home to the Dyfnant Rainbow Trails, designed with horses in mind but also welcoming walkers and leisure cyclists.

The Rainbow Trails are a series or trails of varying distances throughout the forest and over to outstanding views of Lake Vyrnwy all mapped out in our brochure which is available from the building in the main car park at Penn y ffordd on the B4395 or from Hendre Car Park

There are 5 waymarked trails starting from the Penyffordd Car Park. The trails through rolling hills and lush green valleys range from the easiest which is the 5 mile Banwy Trot or, for the more experienced, two 16 milers for a full day's ride.
Penyffordd Car Park is purpose built with a one way system that allows drivers of horse boxes a roll in roll out system. There is ample parking for horse trailers and cars as well as a corral for horses .  The three carriage driving trails in the Dyfnant Forest start from Hendre Car Park just before Pont Llogel.

.  There are picnic areas, corals for the horses and shelter at both parks.  Enjoy the beauty of the forest on your own or at one of our events throughout the year starting on Good Friday with a get together through to the Mince Pie and Mulled Wine event in December.

The Old Barn Cafe is a 2 minutes ‘walk from the Vyrnwy Dam and provide a cycle hire facility.

One of the best ways to enjoy the beautiful scenery of Lake Vyrnwy is to cycle around it.    

The ride around the lake is very flat, which makes it suitable for all fitness abilities and all ages. It is believed to be a 12 miles ride.

 It would take you between 1 hour to 2 hours to complete the ride, there are as well a few possible sightseeing spots or stops along the route ( the waterfall, bird hides, picnic areas, etc).

Set in over 100 acres of woodland on the edge of the beautiful village of Llangynog, Revolution Bike Park is a new downhill mountain biking centre which opened in 2011. With a 300m high hill the park offers tracks that will offer a challenge to downhill riders whether novices or professionals.

The park offers uplifts on weekend days for up to 30 people and is also available during the week for private parties of up to 10.

Founded in 2005, we now have many members with an astonishing variety of art and craft. You will find a wide selection of crafts at our Lake Vyrnwy Gallery and Shop including textiles, ceramics, jewellery, metalwork, woodwork and art. We are a cooperative enterprise, our shop is manned by the artists and we assure you of a friendly welcome.

A community project works to preserve this historic building and bring it back to life. There are presently 12 units rented to individuals working in arts and crafts. A Venue where live events are held to raise funds and a gallery set up for exhibitions from local artists.

There are many events throughout the year which are aimed at raising funds to restore the building and make necessary improvements to the grounds.

Guided walks are available for all requirements . Barry will arrange gentle and moderate enjoyable walks for the occasional walker, taking you on little known routes where the sight of another walker is rare. The option of Fungi & Flora walks, Birdwatching and Nature Walks, in the company of our local wildlife expert Judy are also available . All walks are set at a pace to suit your group, giving you plenty of time to enjoy your walk, the scenery and the seclusion of this beautiful countryside.

For the more experienced walker, Barry will arrange full day, high or low level walks and scrambles on the remote wide ridges of southern Snowdonia including the Aranns, Berwyns, and Rhinogs. Easy scrambles can also be arranged.

Guided cycle rides for all abilities on forest tracks, quite lanes or off road routes, are also available.

Breakaway Holidays also offers Accommodation for Adult Groups at their traditional Welsh Long Cottage with converted barns and Annexe. Adult Group Breaks can also include an extensive range of Outdoor, Creative and Holistic activities.
